Types of Boilers

If you're a homeowner in the UK, it's important that you know about the different types of boilers available to you. In this blog post, we'll take a look at some of the most common types of boilers, and we'll discuss the pros and cons of each one. So whether you're considering installing a new boiler or just want to learn more about them, keep reading!

Types of Boilers

Combi Boilers

Combination boilers, also known as combi boilers, are a type of boiler that provides both heat and hot water. Unlike traditional boilers, there is no need for a separate water heater, making them a more efficient and compact option.

Combi boilers are usually gas-fired, but there are also electric and oil-fired models available. Because they don't require a separate tank or cylinder, combi boiler installation is typically quicker and easier than other types of boiler.

However, it's important to note that combi boilers must be installed by a qualified gas engineer. If you're considering switching to a combi boiler, be sure to take a look at our Gas Safe boiler installation services.

Heat-Only

Heat-only boilers are a type of boiler that provides heat but not hot water. They are typically used in homes with a separate hot water cylinder, and they work by circulating hot water from the boiler through radiators around the home.

While heat-only boilers are generally less expensive to install than combi boilers, they can be more expensive to run because they require two tanks of hot water - one for the boiler and one for the cylinder.

System Boilers

A system boiler is a boiler that doesn't require a separate cylinder for storing hot water. Instead, it heats water directly from the mains and supplies it to your taps and radiators. A system boiler is usually more efficient than a standard boiler as it doesn't lose heat through a hot water tank.

It's also easier to install than a conventional boiler as all of the components are built into one unit. If you're replacing an old boiler, you may want to consider upgrading to a system boiler as it could help you to save money on your energy bills.
